EVERYDAY MAKE UP ESSENTIALS FOR THE BUSY GIRL

Living and working in a city can be a little hectic as you can imagine, so it probably won’t surprise you that most days us London girls are on-the-go and mostly always in a hurry. So whenever I need to run out the door (most mornings) I do so with make up bag in hand knowing that all my trusted essentials are in there and that I’m always prepared for the day and/or night ahead.

Cheeks

Nars Blush ‘Deep Throat’ // MAC ‘Mineralize’ Blush // Lancôme ‘Cheek & Contour’ Brush No.25

These blushes are lovely! I would describe them as medium corals with a gold shimmer and hints of pink. Very bendable and great for on-the-go. They wear very well so they are guaranteed to last on the entire day. Of course you don’t need both of these in your bag so in terms of practicality, Nars probably wins for having a mirror inside the lid (see here for a more pictures). I also never leave without my trusted cheek and contour blush from Lancôme. It’s made from natural hair so it’s soft and fluffy. I use the long oval-shaped side of the brush for applying blush and the flat short side for extra definition and highlight.

MAC ‘Brave’ Lipstick // Bobbi Brown ‘Pink Mauve’ Lip Pencil

I have so much love for this lip combination. I outline my lips first with my Bobbi Brown lip pencil and then use ‘brave’ by MAC for my everyday look. It is a satin lipstick which means it is opaque, and it has a semi-matte finish, yet it’s not drying and will last for hours. I’m almost out because of how much I use it!

Eyes

Clinique Lash Primer // Bourjois Mascara // Lancôme Eyelash Curler // Bobbi Brown Gel Liner

The Clinique lash building primer and the Bourgeois extra volume clubbing mascara are my two holy grail lash products! I never use one without the other as they work so well together and I especially love the length the primer gives me before applying the mascara which adds even more length and lots of volume. I have been using my Bourjois mascara for years now and although I have tried so many high-end mascaras, none of them quite compare to this one, plus you can’t beat the price. It’s not clumpy or flaky and will last the entire day- so just make sure you have a very good make up remover!

I use my eyelash curler before applying the primer and again after applying the mascara for extra oomph. Finally my Bobbi Brown gel liner is perfect for all day wear and I find my look is never complete without the flicks on the outer corners of my eye as it just makes me look a lot more awake!

Brows

Illamasqua Eyebrow Cake // Mac Eyebrow Gel // Daniel Sandler Brow Filler

I’m so over the heavy brow look that I had going on during the winter. For Spring I prefer a lighter and less defined brow as it gives a more fresh and youthful look so I’ve switched up my eyebrow routine (post coming soon) and instead I’ve been using my Illamasqua brow cake to lightly fill in my brows and my MAC brow set to hold them in place. See here for a more detailed review of the brow set- you’re missing out if you don’t have one!

Face

Smashbox ‘Photo Finish’ Primer// Bobbi Brown Eye Brightener // Bobbi Brown Blotting Paper

So this Smashbox photofinisher primer is one I’ve been loving recently. I bought this in a mini pack of 3 so I always carry one around in my make up bag. This is the first product I apply before anything else and you only need a small amount so a little will go a long way. It keeps shine well away and reduces the appearance of pores and generally makes your skin look really good in photos! You’ll notice no foundation in my make up bag- if I’m on the go I don’t have time to faff with my beauty blender and layers or foundation so I prefer to go without it and instead just use my Bobbi Brown eye brightener to make me look more awake.

Finally where would I be without my Bobbi Brown refillable blotting paper! There are powder-free tissues that absorb excess oil and perspiration from your skin. It’s my on-the-go solution for controlling shiny skin – well worth it during the warmer months. I gently press a single sheet wherever I have unwanted shine, usually my T-zone and it will instantly remove the shine without removing any of my make-up!

Make Up Bag

Mulberry (similar here)

I’m so obsessed with this little make up bag, It’s so small and practical and somehow it fits everything I need! I love the fact that it’s waterproof. I highly recommend one like this as you can wash it out and clean it every so often- we all know how messy make up bags can get, so you want to avoid anything that isn’t waterproof and especially leather. I also love this because it’s a little stretchy so if I need to add more I can!
